Malvern City defeated Yarraville 8-3 in the final and were presented with the Hellenic Cup Trophy and each person involved was presented with an individual medal.   “It was a fantastic opportunity to be involved in such a prestigious event. All the boys derived a lot of satisfaction and much needed game time in preparation for the upcoming season and I as a coach believe that we won on both fronts. We were fortunate enough to win the tournament, all the while getting some much needed game time in to our young players. Well done, bring on season 2013!!” Coach Nick Houssos said.

Malvern City congratulates the Under 18′s and all other MCFC teams that participated in this fantastic pre season tournament.

HOLIDAY CLINIC A HIT!

Malvern City FC recently offered it’s Junior Members a School Holiday Football Clinic, with Seniors Coach, Costa Caimakamis.  The clinic, which ran from 10am to 12 noon across three days of the holidays,  was a huge success -  both with players and parents !  Children were broken up into age appropriate groups, and coached at their relevant skill levels.

Costa said, “It was great to meet some of the Junior members of our Club – their enthusiasm and skill level was outstanding, I’ll certainly be watching their progress as they grow up through the ranks!”.  Costa was assisted by Seniors players Lloyd Clothier and Theo Houssos.   The Club hopes to offer this program to our Juniors again in the future.

Malvern City’s pre-season training has commenced and we welcome new and returning members.

How to Join:  New Members and Returning Members must first register their interest with the appropriate Team Manager (see schedule below of Teams/Year of Birth requirement/Team Manager contact). Once you have confirmed your place on a team  - please proceed with online registration and payment asap!  See the ‘Register Now’ tab on this website – under ‘Membership’ for instructions.  The Club cannot issue FFV Player ID Cards or Uniforms to any player who has not completed the online payment and registration.

JUNIORS (UNDER 7′S – UNDER 18′S):

Shin guards with long socks compulsory for training – bring a water bottle and wear sunscreen in summer months.

First round of FFV competition commences Sunday 14 April and the season concludes early September.

HOW TO FIND US:

Our Clubhouse and grounds are located at Sir Zelman Cowen Park,  Glenferrie Road, Kooyong (opposite Kooyong Tennis Club, driveway entrance is next to Vision Australia).   Formerly named ‘Kooyong Park’ – it may still appear on your GPS or in your Melways as ‘Kooyong Park’.

Kooyong 1 (K1) is located to the left of the driveway entrance – please park in the first car park

Kooyong 3 (K3) is located beyond the Clubhouse, after the second car park

REGISTRATION:

Online registration is now open with payment via Visa or Mastercard.  Please confirm your place on a team via the appropriate Team Manager – then follow the instructions on the ‘Register Now’ page of our website – under ‘Membership’.  The Club cannot issue FFV Player ID Cards and Uniforms to players who have not completed online payment and registration.

As the trip coincided with the end of our 2012 season, he suggested to his Malvern City Under  16′s team mates that they donate their soccer boots to the children of these communities.  Not only did the team donate their boots – they also cleaned them (much appreciated boys)!

The Club , eager to support Georgio’s initiative, also donated 15 soccer balls.  The kids were so happy with their gear they presented Georgio with a special T shirt – which started a bidding war amongst his school mates!  The children of Jabiru and Gunbalanya had never played soccer before, and are now keen to give it a go.

Well done to Georgio and Malvern City Under 16′s – your team spirit and community mindedness reflects the values so important to our Club.

Training for 2013 season will commence at Kooyong Park from 4 February and we welcome new members.  Our 2013 Training Schedule is now online.  Here is some additional information on our programs:

Sub Juniors:

Our Sub Juniors comprise of U7′s, U9′s and U11′s mixed teams –  boys and girls.  They play ‘small sided’ soccer ie. half size pitch.   No previous experience required, we welcome children of varying abilities, and the emphasis is on teamwork, friendships and having fun.  NB:  Under 7′s don’t play FFV competition, they play ‘friendlies’.

Juniors:

Our Junior teams cover U12′s to U18′s boys teams, and we have a Womens Open Team (we welcome more girls teams if we can get the numbers).  Our Juniors play ‘full sided’ soccer ie. full size pitch.  As players mature in age, the focus moves more towards competitive soccer.  We continue to encourage children of varying abilities to join, beginners are welcome, and coaches are respectful of each child’s individual ability.

Training:

Our junior teams train twice a week.  We encourage parents to come down to training and watch their children train and meet the coach.  Shin guards are compulsory for training, children should bring a water bottle and wear sunscreen in summer months.

Match Day:

All junior matches are held on Sundays.  Home games are played at our home grounds at Kooyong Park, and away games can be up to half an hour’s drive away, depending on the fixture.  Each team’s fixture is set by the FFV first round of the FFV Fixture will commence on Sunday 14 April.

Players are provided with a full uniform ‘kit’ as part of their membership package, and are only required to provide shin guards and football boots (plastic stops only).

 Volunteers:

Our Club couldn’t exist without the enormous effort of our volunteers which comprises of a Juniors Committee, Team Managers, Team Assistants, First Aid Officers, Match Day Linesman and Marshals and Canteen Helpers.  We encourage families to get involved; children love to see their parents helping out, it’s rewarding, and essential to the Club’s longevity.
