Malvern City FC – Juniors
‘Football brings us together, our community spirit keeps us together’
Malvern City FC is located at Sir Zelman Cowen Park (formerly called Kooyong Park), Glenferrie Road, Kooyong – opposite Kooyong Tennis Club, driveway entrance is next to Vision Australia.
Our Sub Juniors comprise of U7’s to U11’s mixed teams – boys and girls. They play ‘small sided’ soccer ie. half size pitch or smaller. No previous experience required, we welcome children of varying abilities, and the emphasis is on teamwork, friendships and having fun. NB: Under 7’s don’t play in FFV competition, just ‘friendly matches’.
Our Junior teams currently cover U12’s to U18’s teams. Our Juniors play ‘full sided’ soccer ie. full size pitch. As players mature in age, the focus moves more towards competitive soccer. We continue to encourage children of varying abilities to join, beginners are welcome, and coaches are respectful of each child’s individual ability.
Players must have completed online payment and registration before they can be issued with an FFV Player ID and receive the Club uniform. Players who have not done so, are unable to play.
See ‘Training Schedule’ page for times. We encourage parents to come down to training and watch their children train and meet the coach. Shin guards are compulsory for training, children should bring a water bottle and wear sunscreen in summer months.
Juniors matches are held on Sundays. Home games are played at our home grounds at Kooyong Park (recently renamed Sir Zelman Cowen Park) and away games can be up to half an hour’s drive away, depending on the fixture. Shin guards and football boots compulsory, no jewellery, no spectacles for 12+ players (sports frames accepted).
Please refer to our ‘Uniform’ page for details on match day uniform, training kit and away strip.
Our Club couldn’t exist without the enormous effort of our volunteers which comprises of a Juniors Committee, Team Managers, Team Assistants, First Aid Officers, Match Day Linesman and Marshals and Canteen Helpers. We encourage families to get involved; children love to see their parents helping out, it’s rewarding, and essential to the Club’s longevity.
